PORT ANGELES — Seats can be reserved now for fundraising training for nonprofits.
“Raising Money — More and Better” will be presented by Stuart Grover, a fundraising consultant, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 26 in Keegan Hall at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The cost of the full day of training hosted by Olympic View Community Foundation is $100. This includes up to three representatives from each organization and lunch.
Registrants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits and priority will be given to those who have participated in any of the previous three workshops sponsored in part by Olympic View Community Foundation in the past year.
During the interactive presentation, participants will hear about how to identify and cultivate their best prospects, how to turn event attendees into major donors and how to work with other organizations to “grow the philanthropic pie.”
The session will include discussion and group activities designed to help participants apply the training to their organizations.
Grover, who has a doctorate, has been involved in fundraising since 1982.
He built the region’s largest fundraising consulting firm after purchasing the Seattle-based Collins Group in 1990, according to the Olympic View Community Foundation.
“Working with more than 400 nonprofits throughout the Northwest, he gained a reputation for original thinking and a quirky sense of humor, said Sue Ellen Riesau, foundation executive director.
He has served on many boards and received Group Health’s Cooperative Achievement Award in 2011.
He is the author of Capital Campaigns, A Guide for Board Members and Getting the Green: Fundraising Campaigns for Community Colleges as well as several articles on fundraising and currently serves as chair of the Secretary of State’s Charities Advisory Council.
