PORT TOWNSEND – Residents will get a chance this month to discuss a first-of-its-kind pilot ferry reservation program, which would enable up to half of the spaces on the Port Townsend-Keystone ferries be reserved in advance.
The Washington State Ferries meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at Fort Worden State Park Commons Company B, 200 Battery Way, will also give residents a chance to weigh in with comments on a proposed 4 percent ferry rate increase.
The reservation proposal was the result of comments aired last fall in Port Townsend and could mean that up to 65 spaces can be reserved.
Port Townsend business and civic leaders like the idea because it would allow those with reservations waiting for the ferry to visit Port Townsend’s sights, restaurants and retail shops.
