FORKS — Contractor crews will begin construction of a temporary bridge on U.S. Highway 101 at the Clallam and Jefferson county line south of Forks on Monday.
During the construction, drivers can expect a reduced speed limit of 25 mph and alternating single lane traffic between mileposts 184 and 185.
Once the temporary bridge is completed, traffic will be diverted onto it to allow replacement of an outdated culvert with a 175-foot bridge.
The reduced speed limit will remain in place until the bridge is completed in the fall of 2026.
The replacement of the culvert will open 8 miles of salmon habitat on May Creek, a tributary of the Bogachiel River.
