PORT ANGELES — And therefore, she wins.
Maryanne Lee, a Roosevelt Elementary School fourth-grader, won Thursday’s Port Angeles School District spelling bee by correctly spelling “therefore.”
Maryanne said she loves to spell and that she likes to practice at home and school.
“I have spelling books that I do at home and I do a lot of classroom work,” Maryanne said.
“Mrs. [Kristin] Lunt is really good.”
Her mom Sara, who was at the bee, said she agreed that teacher Lunt was an asset to her daughter’s win.
“She has been really amazing, so energetic and a great teacher,” Sara Lee said.
She added that her daughter also enjoys studying on her own while at home.
