VICTORIA — Port Angeles’ Aubree Officer won the women’s under 18 JV single Saturday at the B.C. Rowing Championships held on Elk Lake.
Officer, rowing for the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association, entered the final having posted the best time in the semifinals by over 14 seconds.
Officer posted a time of 9 minutes and 1.4 seconds in the semifinal. Her nearest competitor came in at 9:15.8.
Officer also raced with Sequim’s Elise Beuke to their heat’s top time, 8:12.9, in the women’s under 18 JV double.
Officer and Beuke will row for the gold medal today.
The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association’s other participant, Gabe Wegener, finished third in his heat and 24th out of 36 rowers in the men’s under 16 single.
The B.C. Championships feature rowers from 30 rowing clubs from British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New York, Washington, Oregon and California.
