EUGENE, Ore. — Sequim’s Elise Beuke helped earn two first-place finishes for the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association at the 21st annual Covered Bridge Regatta on Dexter Lake.
Beuke, a senior at Sequim High School who has signed a letter or intent to row at the University of Washington, won the women’s junior 1x race Saturday.
She rowed the 2,000-meter course in 8 minutes, 47.7 seconds, beating out 25 other rowers and finishing 2 seconds ahead of the second-place rower.
Beuke also teamed up with Port Angeles High School sophomore Hannah Officer to win the Women’s Junior JV 2x with a time of 8:50.4.
Oregon Rowing Unlimited finished second, more than 4 seconds behind Beuke and Officer with a time of 8:54.9.
Stanford Rowing Center from Palo Alto, Calif., finished third in the 2,000-meter race with a time of 9:01.7.
The Covered Bridge Regatta featured 516 entries from 20 cities in California, Oregon and Washington, and rowers from 26 rowing clubs.
