QUILCENE — Several passers-by are credited with coming to the aid of two men in a car that overturned on U.S. Highway 101 on Friday.
The State Patrol said a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo sedan driven by Patrick J. Delaney, 64, of Hermiston, Ore., lost traction on U.S. 101 about 7 miles south of Quilcene, left the road and struck an embankment before overturning about 10 minutes before 8 a.m.
Also inside the car was Gerald C. Kortman, 72, also of Hermiston, troopers reported.
Before law enforcement could arrive at the scene, several passers-by on the highway stopped and righted the car by hand.
Delaney and Korman were flown to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Both were wearing seat restraints, the State Patrol reported.
An investigating trooper said Delaney appeared to be traveling too fast for the wet conditions on the highway. No drugs or alcohol were involved, the trooper said.
