PORT TOWNSEND — A Vivaldi flute concerto, a Bach wedding cantata and a Handel sonata are all part of the plan as the Philharmonia Chamber Players, an octet from San Francisco, arrives here this Friday for a program called “Baroque Treasures.”

Port Townsend’s Centrum Chamber Music Festival is presenting the ensemble, featuring soprano Sherezade Panthaki, in the Wheeler Theater just inside Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 to $35 via 800-746-1982 and at the Wheeler box office, while more information is at www.Centrum.org under the “Chamber Music” link.

“These musicians hail from Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the leading early music orchestra in America,” said Centrum Executive Director Robert Birman.

Panthaki, a native of India, is a graduate of the Yale School of Music and is known as a Bach specialist.

Gravitacion quartet

Beginning in 2006, the soprano co-founded, toured and recorded with Gravitacion, a vocal quartet. Since 2011 she has served as vocal coach with the Yale Baroque Opera Project.

Playing with Panthaki on Friday are flutist Stephen Schultz, oboist Marc Schachman, violinists Kati Kyme and Lisa Weiss, violist Anthony Martin, violoncellist William Skeen and harpsichordist Hanneke van Proosdij.

Their program ranges from Telemann, Marcello and Vivaldi concerto to two Bach pieces, the cantata and the Air in D from his third Orchestral Suite.

Friday’s concert is part of Centrum’s chamber music series, one of many musical events stretching through the year at Fort Worden. In addition to the Wheeler Theater performance, the Philharmonia players will visit with students at Port Townsend’s Blue Heron Middle School.
