The state Department of Transportation issued this advisory this morning:
TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR DEC. 28 – Jan. 1: The bridge closes to traffic for up to 40 minutes for ballasting test openings. The openings are scheduled to correspond with the slack tide approximately:
* Monday, Dec. 28, 11 a.m.
* Tuesday, Dec. 29, 11:45 a.m.
* Wednesday, Dec. 30, 12:30 p.m.
* Thursday, Dec. 31, 1:45 p.m.
* Friday, Jan. 1, no scheduled daytime test opening
Additional bridge openings for marine vessels will still occur as needed. Drivers should plan ahead and anticipate heavy holiday traffic going to and from the Olympic Peninsula.
