NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND — Naval Air Station Whidbey Island has announced that the “Scorpions” of Electronic Attack Squadron 132 (VAQ-132) have returned from a seven-month deployment to Misawa, Japan.

According to a press release, the squadron deployed five EA-18G Growlers and 200 personnel to Naval Air Facility Misawa in March.

During the deployment the squadron flew more than 900 sorties in support of U.S. Pacific Command.

During its deployment, the squadron also re-positioned to Osan Air Base, Korea for Combined Training Flying Event 2019; to Anderson Air Force Base, Guam for Exercise Pacific Vanguard and to Kadena Air Base, Japan to conduct split-site operations.

During the deployment, the squadron exercised with U.S. Air Force units, Republic of Korea Air Force units, the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), The “Red Devils” of U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18C squadron VMFA-232 and with air defense units from the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force.

In October, the squadron turned over its five aircraft to their sister squadron, VAQ-138 the “Yellow Jackets” and returned home to Whidbey Island.
