BELLEVUE, — The Seattle Seahawks said today they don’t believe there’s any weight to the allegations that running back Marshawn Lynch may have been involved in an assault Sunday morning at a Bellevue apartment.
“While we maintain the utmost respect for the investigative process, after speaking with Marshawn, we are comfortable these accusations are bogus,” the team said in a statement released to the news media.
No arrests have been made so far.
Officers responded to an apartment in downtown Bellevue at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an assault and personal property damage, Bellevue police said Monday.
A woman at the apartment told officers that the suspect was Marshawn Lynch. No domestic violence or sexual assault was involved in the allegation.
Bellevue police said today they are still investigating the case and it “remains a high priority for our department to bring the investigation to a quick resolution.”
Spokesperson Seth Tyler told KOMO that Bellevue has a full-time detective working the case and “that detective has made significant progress in investigating these allegations fully and thoroughly.”
