SEATTLE — A Seattle mystery man who calls himself Jon Doe but who has been identified by others as Edward Lighthart has been discharged from a Seattle hospital.
The 53-year-old man has been receiving care at Swedish Medical Center since he walked out of Discovery Park on July 30, saying he couldn’t remember his name or his background.
Hospital officials put him in a taxi Monday after concluding there is no more medical need for inpatient care. Hospital spokeswoman Natalie Kozimor says Swedish is paying for a week in a hotel and will provide him with the outpatient care he and his doctors decide he needs.
Beyond that, the man left with the clothes on his back and two paper sacks of medicine and paperwork. He told The Seattle Times he planned to take a long, hot bath.
After news accounts of his plight in The Times and elsewhere, others identified him as Lighthart, a man who has traveled the globe, grew up in Arizona and has an estranged sister in Las Vegas.
