PORT HADLOCK — Jefferson County’s Seed Library is about to hit the road.
The Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Seed Library is partnering with the Jefferson County Book Mobile the last full week of each month, beginning this week, until October.
The library, which opened Feb. 1, loans open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds to patrons to plant and then harvest some of the seeds to be returned to the library.
The Seed Library also plans to sponsor educational programs to teach seed harvesting, saving and storing.
Library hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the WSU offices at 121 Oak Bay Road, Port Hadlock.
Library membership is free and open to all.
Master Gardeners will be out with the bookmobile this week and during the weeks of May 20-23, June 24-27, July 22-25, Aug. 26-29, Sept. 23-26 and Oct. 28-31.
