SEQUIM — With the start of school just days away, Sequim’s annual Back to School Fair will look to help students in all grades be ready for that first bell.
This year’s fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. The event will include free school supplies, resources, food for attendees 18 and younger, activities and more.
Each child who attends will be able to pick up needed supplies on their school list, and they will have an opportunity to select a free backpack, organizers said.
Free immunizations will be available for students younger than 19.
The annual event is put on by the club, Sequim School District, Sequim Valley Lions, United Way of Clallam County and Sequim Sunrise Rotary.
“We are thrilled to be in a position, thanks to this wonderfully caring and generous community, to provide students and families in need with a full set of school supplies and backpacks to start the school year,” said Janet Gray, chief development officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
“The fair is a great connector to valuable community resources. Vendors will once again be in the gym offering information on programs, clubs and services available to families. It’s a not-to-miss event.”
The first day of school for Sequim School District classes is Wednesday.
