SEQUIM — Clallam County prosecutors have decided not to file criminal charges against a 14-year-old Sequim High School freshman involved in a shooting incident Sept. 24 at his Lost Mountain home.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Mark Nichols said his review of facts gathered by sheriff’s deputies show the shooting was not intentional.
“It looks like this was a good, old-fashioned accident,” Nichols said. “An unfortunate one, but an accident nonetheless.”
The shooting happened when the boy and a visiting friend, Michael Warner, were alone in a trailer on the property where the boy lived.
Because no charges have been filed, Peninsula Daily News will not disclose the 14-year-old’s name.
