SEQUIM — The Chamber of Commerce will distribute a survey beginning next week to determine the feasibility of starting an agricultural business incubator program
The incubator would help small and start-up agriculture-related businesses with office support, counseling and assistance in shipping and distribution, as well as other services.
“The Sequim area has been interested in this idea for a number of years,” chamber Executive Director Marny Hannan said. “It’s sort of anecdotally known that this is a good idea, and now we’re trying to determine exactly what is needed.”
The survey will be distributed to farmers, growers, ranchers and other agriculture businesses from Bremerton to Forks, Hannan said.
Hannan said the center could help businesses cut down on overhead costs by pooling money for office space or production, distribution and shipping areas, and equipment.
