SEQUIM — A shiny, black, flat-coated retriever pranced away with Best of Show honors Saturday during the first day of the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club’s All-Breed Dog Show and Obedience Trials.
Champion Ms. Nala of Featherquest, owned by Masaki Shimzu of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., emerged from the sporting group to take top honors from among 955 dogs entered.
“We’re really pleased with the turnout,” said Bill Holbrook, executive field representative for the American Kennel Club and one of the founders of the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club.
“This is our fifth show in our third year,” he said. “I think we really have the townspeople of Sequim behind us now.”
