SEQUIM — It’s a two-for-one deal: Clallam Transit System gets a spruced-up bus station, while the Sequim City Council will have nicer digs for its meetings.
And it’s all thanks to a federal transportation grant, allowing for a $1.2 million renovation of the Sequim Community Center at 190 W. Cedar St.
The City Council on Wednesday gave City Manager Bill Elliott authority to sign a $216,150 purchase and sale agreement for Clallam Transit to buy the community center property.
The council will need to grant final approval for the project once construction plans and final details are presented.
Because the building and land serve as a hub for Clallam Transit in Sequim, the center qualified for federal transportation funding.
Proceeds from the sale will be used as Sequim’s matching-funds requirement to qualify for the grant.
