SEQUIM — After many months of verbal wrestling, Sequim’s City Council members have mailed a letter they hope will modify plans for a safety rest stop amid the town’s east-side neighborhoods.
The letter to the state Department of Transportation aims to “get the dialogue open,” Councilman Ken Hays said during Monday night’s council meeting.
The council voted 4-2 in favor of sending the letter, with Councilmen Walt Schubert and Bill Huizinga opposed, after Schubert said that a survey found some Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce members are in favor of the rest stop.
