SEQUIM — Land use was the theme for City Council members Monday night as they voted unanimously to annex nearly 30 acres of land into the city, and to approve two out of three requests for amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan.
Planning Director Dennis Lefevre presented applications for zoning changes on three privately owned properties and explained that city staff declined to submit changes on public properties until the comprehensive plan is updated in 2004.
The council voted to shift 9.2 acres of land between West Washington Street and Brackett Road from zoned mixed-use to commercial use.
The parcel, owned by the Nelson Family Living Trust, would complete a triangle-shaped collection of parcels currently zoned for C-3, or commercial use, eligible for sit-down restaurants, motels and other establishments serving visitors to the city.
