Sequim City Manager Bill Elliott’s pay has been increased by a unanimous vote of the City Council.
Elliott, who was hired in 2001, will be paid an annual salary of $79,560 retroactive to the beginning of January. Council members said the pay increase amounted to about $6,000.
Mayor Pro-Tem John Beitzel justified the pay hike, totaling 7 percent, saying Elliott hadn’t received an increase in 2003.
Beitzel also said the increase put Elliott’s pay in-line with other cities of similar size across the state.
Sequim Mayor Walt Schubert praised Elliott for helping to make the city more business-friendly.
