SEQUIM — Sequim’s deputy administrative services director will move up June 1.
Sue Hagener will take over as administrative services director when the present director, Elray Konkel, retires in May.
Hagener, a certified public accountant, was appointed deputy administrative services director in 2014. She had served as Sequim’s accounting manager from 2010 to 2014.
City Manager Steve Burkett announced her promotion last week.
The administrative services director is responsible for the operations of the city finance and information technology departments.
Prior to working for the city, she spent close to two decades in accounting management positions in the private sector.
“One of my most important responsibilities as city manager is to maintain the financial health and stability of city finances,” Burkett said.
“We are very fortunate to have someone inside the organization who has developed the skills to be prepared to move into this important leadership role,” he said.
The department’s priorities include developing long-range financial plans, implementing financial controls and providing internal services to the city’s operating departments.
“I look forward to serving as a member of the city’s leadership team,” Hagener said.
