SEQUIM — The city’s portion of downtown revitalization and streetscape project costs will apparently will be cut in half.
City Manager Bill Elliott announced that Sequim has been awarded a $200,000 grant through the state Transportation Improvement Board toward the city’s match in the $4 million project.
Initially, the city was planning to spend $400,000 on the improvement project, which includes streetscaping the downtown core and Washington Street.
“We had pledged our own money to pay the city’s $400,000 match for the downtown revitalization project,” Elliott said. “With this new grant, we will be able to save $200,000 of our own money to put toward other projects.”
The city has already been promised $3.4 million in federal revitalization funding toward the project.
