SEQUIM — When Clint Jones came up with an idea for a tool to rid his yard of dandelions two years ago he only had one made.
He thought the tool worked well, so he shared the idea and pretty soon Clint’s Dandy Digger was on the market.
“It’s the Rolls Royce of digging tools,” Jones brags. “The ground rises like an earthquake around the weed, and the plant pops out!”
He is quick to demonstrate the tool by uprooting any nearby dandelions, thistles or other weeds with long tap roots — about one every 5 seconds.
More than 1,000 of the $40 weeders have been sold to gardeners across the country.
Jones recently beefed up his yard tool by changing the digging part from angle iron to stainless steel.
He says the change makes the digger a little heavier than the original model, but not enough to make it awkward to use.
