SEQUIM — The condition of the survivor in Wednesday’s double-shooting and suicide east of Sequim has been upgraded to serious.
A spokeswoman at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center said Saturday that Shane Loomis, 29, has been taken off the critical list after being wounded in the attack that killed his girlfriend, 35-year-old Noelle Staneart.
The two lived together in Carlsborg.
Staneart’s estranged husband, Rockie Staneart, shot himself to death in front of Clallam County sheriff’s deputies when they approached him at his Diamond Point home early Thursday morning.
Sheriff Joe Martin said 46-year-old Rockie Staneart uttered what the sheriff characterized as a confession before turning a .22 caliber handgun to the head and firing.
Deputies were looking for Staneart in connection with the shootings after finding no weapon at the crime scene, Noelle Staneart’s landscaping materials business on Washington Harbor Road bear West Sequim Bay Road.
