SEQUIM — The City Council approved interim design standards for regional shopping centers and an accompanying parking ordinance Wednesday.
Both will be the subject of a public hearing in the next 60 days and each document will be studied as the city develops a permanent set of rules.
Public hearing dates have not been set.
The interim design standards, modified from ones developed in Fort Collins, Colo., were approved with little change.
But a few concepts designated as required standards by the Planning Commission were downgraded to guidelines in the ordinance — meaning they are intended to educate planners, consultants, developers and city staff about design objectives.
