SEQUIM — If fire inspections are done among businesses in the city, will the inspections be equitable with requirements outside the city limit?
Keeping a level playing field in competing with other communities for attracting new business was one of the concerns raised Monday as City Council members heard an explanation of proposed fire inspections in the city.
The council’s worries center around whether businesses outside the city will have to adhere to the same fire safety rules as those in Sequim when fire inspections start.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 is preparing to conduct fire inspections of businesses inside and outside the city limit, Assistant Fire Chief Roger Moeder said.
The inspections will conform to standards set by the state, county and city.
