SEQUIM — A two- or three-story City Hall could take shape here next year and have its grand opening in late 2008.
If the 20,000-square-foot edifice is only two stories, it would be built after demolition of the tiny building where 12 city staffers now work at 152 W. Cedar St.
The three-story version would put a smaller footprint on the same site, so it might not necessitate tearing down the old City Hall.
The height and spread of Sequim’s new municipal center will be up in the air for some time yet — but the City Council decided Monday to do something rather than nothing.
After a presentation by Seattle architect Rich Murakami, the council voted unanimously to authorize City Manager Bill Elliott’s investigation of funding mechanisms for construction of a City Hall on the existing downtown site.
