SEQUIM — The invitation to applicants for Sequim’s top job made the town sound fabulous:
“Sequim is seen to be a healthy community, with the University of Washington calling Sequim ‘The Healthiest Place in the World’ . . . with an annual average rainfall of just 16 inches!” proclaimed the draft advertisement for Sequim city manager.
But the City Council was less than wild about it on Monday night.
The salary range was too low, council members decided, and the interim city manager, Police Chief Bob Spinks, said he wasn’t sure where he found the designation of Sequim as “the healthiest place in the world” attributed to UW.
Toward the end of a marathon meeting, the council sent the draft back to its author, city manager consultant Lee Walton, for revisions.
The revisions will begin the top of the first page — the council thinks Walton set the salary range too low at $92,000 to $110,000.
