SEQUIM — Property owner Leo Shipley has won another round in his application for the rezoning of 53 acres of land on the west boundary of Sequim.
The City Council voted 6-0, with one abstention, Monday night to direct the city staff to prepare an ordinance that would essentially return the zoning to the way it was — allowing higher housing density — when Shipley bought the property in late 1996.
The proposed ordinance and package of findings will be returned to the council for first reading on July 9.
The lopsided decision came Monday despite heavy public criticism.
