SEQUIM — Plans for finishing phase two of the Sequim Village Marketplace have been submitted to the City Council for approval.
Phase two consists of designating four lots of land for economic development.
The largest lot, at 143,099 square feet, is designated for the new Costco Wholesale building along Ninth Avenue.
Costco has announced its intention to leave its current Carlsborg location on U.S. Highway 101 for a larger store that should be open later this year.
Two other lots, one west of the Costco lot and one to the north, have also been set aside for retail purposes.
A fourth lot along Washington Street will be reserved for restaurant development.
The plans also include setting aside a lot of land east of the restaurant lot for stormwater retention.
Sequim City Planner Dennis LeFevre has suggested to the City Council that the plans be approved, said Bill Elliott, Sequim city manager.
“It’s a process that we just have to go through more or less to finish it,” Elliott said about getting the council’s approval for the plans.
