SEQUIM – An $8.5 million Holiday Inn Express and $2 million Black Bear Diner could, by this time next year, form a kind of gateway to Sequim.
Bret Wirta, the Seattle developer who built the Quality Inn and Suites at Sequim’s west end, wants to dominate the city’s eastern edge with a second three-story hotel and a 120-seat restaurant.
There’s plenty of demand for another chain inn and eatery, said Damian Humphreys, Wirta’s Sequim spokesman and marketing manager for the Quality Inn.
Since that 60-room, 10-suite hotel opened in January 2006, “we’ve been very successful . . . we cleared $1 million in net revenue in our first year,” Humphreys added.
The new 77-room Holiday Inn will be flanked by a fountain, a pond and a branded diner – if all goes as planned and Wirta signs a franchise agreement with Black Bear Diners Inc.
