SEQUIM — An oil furnace apparently caused the fire that killed two elderly siblings earlier this week, Clallam County Fire District No. 3 investigators said Thursday.
The fast-moving blaze tore through the front of a Port Williams Road home Sunday morning, killing 90-year-old Irvine Schuman and his 88-year-old sister, Agatha Schuman.
“The fire originated in the area of the oil heat furnace located in the living room,” where both Schuman were found, Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hudson said.
Hudson declined to comment about whether the oil heat furnace had been faulty. An insurance company report on the fire will likely take several months, he said.
