SEQUIM — Al Knobbs doesn’t have difficulty understanding his job as the newest assistant fire chief in Clallam County Fire District No. 3.
For many years, he watched Steve Vogel handle the same responsibilities.
“Primarily, Al is now in charge of our emergency medical services and department safety,” said Vogel, who recently succeeded Tom Lowe as district fire chief.
Lowe retired late last year and Vogel was promoted from assistant fire chief, a position he held since the inception of the fire district.
Knobbs, 51, a fire captain since 1996, was appointed assistant chief May 1.
“Currently, I oversee the entire medical program and 11 paramedics,” Knobbs said.
