SEQUIM — Commercial fire inspections will become part of life for Sequim business owners later this summer.
The resumption of the fire inspections after nearly 20 years within the city limits will probably lead to inspections of all businesses throughout Clallam County Fire District No. 3, according to Chief Steve Vogel.
The fire district encompasses the area between the Clallam-Jefferson county line west almost to Deer Park Road near Port Angeles.
Businesses in Sequim under went annual fire inspections until the mid-1980s when residents voted to combine the city fire department with Fire District No. 3, Assistant Fire Chief Roger Moeder said.
That vote eliminated the Sequim Fire Department and required a contract between the city and fire district for inspections.
