SEQUIM — Deborah Keeting-Hansen, one of Sequim First’s leaders, is concerned about environmental and economic impacts caused by large retail stores.
Keeting-Hansen walked along Washington Street and Priest Road on Wednesday afternoon, taking pictures of the area where Wal-Mart and an undisclosed number of other large stores are being planned.
The citizens group, according to Keeting-Hansen, isn’t “anti-growth or anti-mall,” but is concerned about the health and well-being of the community.
The group formed last year after Mark Burrowes of Bell Homestead LLC sought to rezone a parcel south of downtown to allow for construction of a regional shopping center.
