SEQUIM — An expansion of the county’s Kirner Road gravel pit will not damage an aquifer that supplies water to hundreds of home, a recently released study says.
According to the study completed by Pacific Groundwater Group of Seattle, the county plan to deepen the pit by as much as 40 feet would not affect private and municipal wells either.
The county agreed to hydrologic testing before seeking a state Department of Natural Resources permit to deepen the 40-acre after neighbors expressed concern about the project.
The report was completed Oct. 18.
