SEQUIM — Dungeness Golf & Country Club member Pat Harrop-Schumacher is leading the Senior Division of the eighth annual Washington State Women’s Amateur Championships after the first round.
Harrop-Schumacher shot 7-over par 79 on Tuesday at SunLand Golf & Country Club to lead the tournament by three strokes. The second round is today and the final round is Thursday.
Harrop-Schumacher tees off at about 10 a.m. today.
It’s no wonder that the Sequim resident is mastering SunLand with a 37 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine. The assistant manager of the Dungeness pro shop used to be a longtime member of SunLand, where she was club champion for “at least 12 years in a row,” according to her husband, J.C. Schumacher.
Anne Carr of Fairwood Golf & Country Club and Ann Swanson of Sand Point Country Club are tied for second in the Senior Division with 82s.
