SEQUIM — Home-schooling parents who are unhappy with the support they receive from the Sequim School District may have new options available to them, according to a home-schooling parent advocate looking to align with another district for support services or to start a cooperative program from scratch.
Rose Marschall said that while officials from the Sequim district mean well, they may be caving to pressures prompted by new federal regulations which require a more rigorous set of standards — standards that too closely resemble the public school structure that home-schooling parents have sought to avoid in the first place.
Marschall met Tuesday with home-schooling parents interested in exploring alternatives to the Olympic Peninsula Academy.
