SEQUIM — A retired administrator who spent several years in Washington schools has been named interim principal at Sequim Middle School for the 2004-2005 school year.
Jack Hedgcock, 58, will fill the vacancy created when Mark Willis was moved to Sequim High to replace Assistant Principal Leon Warner, who resigned in June.
Board members in late June directed Superintendent Garn Christensen to launch a nationwide search for an interim principal, which would allow a more extensive search for the person to take the job on a permanent basis.
Hedgcock brings to the job nearly 30 years of experience at the middle school level, much of it in Kitsap County.
He retired from Kingston Junior High in 2001 and accepted a position in Mojave, Calif., before moving to a principal position in Oxnard, Calif.
