PORT ANGELES — A 29-year-old Sequim man has been charged with two counts of first-degree child rape and four counts of first-degree child molestation.
Gary M. Larson, who was charged Thursday, will be arraigned on the charges in Clallam County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Port Angeles police arrested Larson without incident in a cooperative operation with the Sequim Police Department on Feb. 20.
“These incidents occurred over a period of seven years, from 2003 to 2009,” Port Angeles Police Detective Jason Viada said.
The victim, a 12-year-old girl, reported the crimes to her parents Feb. 10. The crimes occurred in Port Angeles.
Port Angeles Police Detective Kori Malone led the investigation.
First-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation protect children younger than 12. Both are Class A felonies punishable by a maximum of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Viada said crimes against people, especially children, are the highest priority for the Port Angeles Police Department Detective Unit.
