SEQUIM — A Sequim motorcyclist who was struck by a sport utility vehicle in the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Hooker Road on Sept. 7 has died from his injuries, the State Patrol said today (Wednesday).
Joseph L. Cvitkovich was 79.
Cvitkovich was turning from Hooker Road onto the highway on a 2002 Yamaha XVX11A motorcycle. He failed to stop at a red light before being struck in the intersection by a 1997 Geo Tracker driven by Joy A. Newman, the State Patrol said.
Newman, 37, also of Sequim, was heading eastbound on the highway when the wreck occurred at 11:44 a.m. Sept. 7 about three miles west of Sequim. She was not taken to a hospital.
Cvitkovich had been in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.
The State Patrol issued a memo at 1:12 a.m. today (Wednesday) stating that he died.
Cvitkovich was wearing a helmet, and Newman was wearing a seat belt.
