KINGSTON — A 28-year-old Sequim man who died in a head-on wreck on state Highway 104 in Kingston on Wednesday night has been identified as Benjamin MacQueen.
The State Patrol said MacQueen was driving westbound in a 1994 Toyota Camry when he crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming 1994 Jeep Cherokee driven by James A. Norberg at the intersection of Parcells Road at about 7:45 p.m.
Both vehicles rotated counterclockwise at impact. The Jeep came to a rest in the eastbound shoulder and the Camry came to a rest in the center of the intersection, according to a State Patrol collision memo.
MacQueen was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The Kitsap County coroner notified his next of kin.
Norberg, 53, of Kingston was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton and later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, said Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman.
An unidentified passenger in the Jeep — a 14-year-old Kingston girl — was taken straight to Harborview.
Norberg’s transport to Harborview was delayed because of bad weather, Winger said.
“They’ve got severe injuries,” Winger said.
“We don’t have [seat] belts on any of the participants.”
Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg told Kingston Community News that Norberg and the teen were in the intensive care unit in serious but stable condition Thursday.
The State Patrol said the cause of the wreck remained under investigation.
It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved, troopers said.
