SEQUIM — Managers at Olympic Game Farm haven’t inoculated birds or other animals against mosquitos that could carry the West Nile Virus.
But they are keeping an eye on events as a way of protecting animals at the game preserve.
“We haven’t (inoculated) as yet, but if something did come up, we’d call out the vet,” said Alice Beebe, vice president of the farm on Ward Road, northwest of the city.
Beebe said none of the ducks, peacocks, geese or chickens at the farm have shown any signs of being infected by the virus, which can be deadly to animals and humans.
“We would be concerned if we heard any reports around here,” Beebe said Tuesday. “We haven’t heard any reports of anything around here.”
The Game Farm, which was once the training site for many animals used in Walt Disney movies, is home to buffalo, fallow deer, yaks, llamas, a white rhinoceros, lions, Bengal tigers, several species of bear, a black panther, wolves, cougars and raccoons.
