SEQUIM — Police Chief Ken Burge isn’t sure if an envelope addressed to his department contained the white powder that caused evacuation of a mail distribution center in Tacoma early Tuesday morning.
The discovery of the powder among envelopes being sorted — and subsequent shutdown of the Tacoma processing facility for more than 12 hours — delayed some mail to the Peninsula on Tuesday.
But Sequim Postmaster Scott Quast said most mail comes from a different distribution center and said he expects mail delivery to return to normal today.
“It’ll be like the day after a holiday,” Quast said Tuesday afternoon.
