SEQUIM — Robert Spinks calls himself the “fat Irishman” of Sequim. These days, his plate is fuller than ever.
As chief of police, Spinks, 49, deals with three things on the rise here: calls for service, crimes and arrests.
As interim city manager — which Spinks became on May 5 after the City Council abruptly fired Bill Elliott — he’s about to look at a sewage treatment plant expansion.Â
The city has $4 million in its 2008 budget for that project, which goes out to bid today.
Another task on the horizon: Selection of an executive search firm — aka a headhunter — to find Sequim a permanent city manager.
“We’re looking at three firms,” Spinks said Monday. He doesn’t have a deadline for choosing one.
“I want to calm the waters,” Spinks said, before city manager candidates come to town.
