SEQUIM — Are you feeling lucky? The Safeway in Sequim and the Penny Saver Mart in Port Townsend are among the top 10 luckiest lottery vendors in this region, according to Washington’s Lottery.
“That’s pretty awesome, actually,” Sequim Safeway General Manager Jim Gorden said.
This week, Washington’s Lottery announced its annual list of “luckiest stores” — retail locations that sold the most winning tickets worth $1,000 or more in the previous year.
The “luckiest stores” list spans six regions across the state, including the Olympic and Kitsap peninsulas.
Gorden added that he hopes the trend of lucky winners continues.
Tammy Schroepfer, Sequim Safeway customer service representative, sells plenty of tickets at the lottery counter and said she enjoys seeing her customers win.
There have been “many winners — not many big winners — but we have had a couple of the big winners,” she said.
“I love to be the seller of the winning tickets. It is always fun.”
At the Penny Saver Mart in Port Townsend, the lucky trend continues.
“It seems to be a lucky place,” said owner Roger Ramey. “In the last couple of days, we’ve had two $500 winners.”
