SEQUIM — Fir Street may be a mellow residential address, but its residents were anything but subdued on Monday night.
A roomful of neighbors turned out to the City Council meeting with a unified message: No Olympic Discovery Trail in our front yards.
To them, the trail would be an intruder and a nuisance that would pull down property values.
“We have no objection to people riding bikes down the street,” said Fir Street resident Forest Faulkner. “We do not want a designated route on Fir Street.
If the trail is built, “our property will go down (in value),” he said. “It’s a fact of life.”
The Discovery Trail has drawn visitors to Sequim.
