Sequim: Robbie Knievel, pals to motorcycle for charity down U.S. 101

SEQUIM — Motorcycle traffic will increase dramatically Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 101 along Hood Canal.

“We hope to have more than 300 entries,” said stuntman Robbie Knievel, who is sponsoring his second annual Kaptain Knievel Celebrity Motorcycle Run to raise money for Healthy Families of Clallam County.

“It should be a lot of fun.”

Several celebrities have announced tentative plans to accept Knievel’s invitation to participate in the 200-mile motorcycle run.

“Last year, we only raised about $4,500,” he said. “But we did that without major sponsors. This year, we’re aiming at raising about $10,000.”

Backing Knievel’s project for the 2001 motorcycle run are Paul Mitchel Hair Products, Red Robin Restaurants, Downtown Harley Davidson of Seattle and Alaska Airlines.

7 Cedars Casino of Blyn will also contribute as the start-finish point of the jaunt.
