SEQUIM — ARTfusion, a once-a-year show and sale at The Cutting Garden Art Center, is coming this Friday and Saturday.
Admission is free to the exhibition, which will feature art by five local artists and light refreshments, from noon to 6 p.m. both days.
The Cutting Garden Art Center is at 303½ Dahlia Llama Lane off Woodcock Road in Dungeness, beside the U-cut garden now called Annie’s Flower Farm.
Here’s the quintet readying their work for the show:
■ Rocky Fankhouser, a woodworker for some 40 years, these days builds three-dimensional forms with a variety of materials: fiberglass, metal, glass and even cement.
With a background in mechanical and industrial design, he turns wood and constructs rustic furniture, birdhouses, weather vanes, sand-blasted glass and carved concrete.
■ Linda Collins Chapman, a professional potter, has had her ceramics selected for the American Craft Council Shows in Baltimore and San Francisco, and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian.
She makes wheel-thrown porcelain vessels, sculpts clay masks and uses an ancient decorative technique called sgraffito, creating patterns and three-dimensional effects on the surface of her pots.
■ Paulette Hill, a prize-winning jeweler, explores nature’s textures and colors in her wearable art, while adding crystals, metals, pearls and wood. Also a teacher of jewelry-making workshops, she shows her work at the LARC Gallery at 425 E. Washington St. in Sequim.
■ Pat Starr has painted animals, people and their surroundings in watercolor for more than 25 years. At ARTfusion, Starr will show her recent views of the Olympic Peninsula.
■ Catherine Mix, paints with pastels, watercolors or both on one canvas.
She’s especially interested in revealing shadow and light as it passes through glass and water. Her paintings reflect this and her love for the scenery of the Olympic Peninsula.
An artist in earnest since the 1990s, Mix is now the owner of The Cutting Garden Art Center.
